    Content Revisited

Filed under: Marketing, Miscellaneous, YNot Web Happenings — Kammy @ 9:08 am

I finally had a chance to expand on and input the strategies from two out the three handouts I provided at my presentations on Web Site Content.
The first is titled Must Have Content and the second is How Content Affects Your Search Engine Listings and Ranking.
Check them both out in my Articles section on Creating a Web Site.

    LinkedIn Networking

Filed under: Clients, Trends, YNot Web Happenings — Kammy @ 11:27 am

I am trying out a new way to network- online social networking. The online network I was invited to and joined is called LinkedIn.com.  It has interesting potential to connect my friends, clients, and colleagues with each other and their friends, clients, and colleagues.

In the last year, I have often played ‘go between’ to help one friend’s company find qualified people to fill positions or refer one client to another for services one needs and the other provides.  I am testing out this online network to see if it can streamline that process a bit.

If you are a past client or someone who would like to refer me to others and would like an invitation into my network, just give me a call or drop me an email (if you know me, you have my address– I do not like posting it unprotected online).  If you’re already a member of LinkedIn, you can just put in my name and send me an notice to connect our networks together.

Check it out if you get a chance or let me know what you think about these types of online networking services (feel free to comment using the link below).

    Windows LIVE in Beta

Filed under: Search Engine News — Kammy @ 9:59 pm

Windows “Live” is live - in beta - at http://www.live.com (okay, how much did THAT domain cost?)

Its going to take me a while to check out all the features- my first peeks were at Live Local: http://local.live.com (maps, directions, “Where am I”, local Traffic! etc.) and Live Messenger (an expansion on MSN and Windows Messenger). One of my friends already sent me Live Messenger games from a Pirates of the Caribbean theme. Pretty nifty.

I’m just wondering how I’m going to keep up! I’m still testing the Microsoft AdCenter (like Google Adwords and Yahoo Search Marketing) which went live in May.
I’ll keep you posted as I can, but check it out if you get a chance.

    New MDA Phone

Filed under: Miscellaneous, YNot Web Happenings — Kammy @ 12:52 pm

Well, after a month of serious issues with my old HP IPAQ, I finally upgraded my phone to a T-Mobile MDA.  It is still a Pocket PC but with the newest version of Windows Mobile.

I’m just happy to have a fully functional phone at last. I am pretty reliant on my technology tools to keep all my tasks and due dates straight and this was really impacted by some of those Ipaq failures. Add feeling under the weather last week, and it became evident I just couldn’t afford to go without my ‘electronic brain’ any longer.

I am trying out a new organizer software, SPB Diary and SPB Pocket Plus. Hopefully they work as well as my old software, tAgenda.

I will add some comments as I get used to the MDA and new software.

    Time is Money

Filed under: Miscellaneous, Reviews and Recommendations — Kammy @ 6:57 pm

There is often no need to ‘reinvent the wheel’ when it comes to features you might want to put on your website. Time IS money when you’re thinking about how to get those special features on your website. This is why I often recommend a variety of 3rd party products and services and even have a Reviews & Recommendations section (more to be included) rather than ‘custom programming’ every option that someone wants for their site. If you can get the feature you want by purchasing an existing product, this almost always saves you money over having someone program the same feature.  Generally it also offers a more stable (tried and tested) platform as well as gives you features you may not have requested but could use.
